Adobe Illustrator – The Beginning
Illustrator Tutorials No Comments »Before you begin this tutorial you should have Adobe Illustrator CS – CS2. If you do not have it you can download it from the official Adobe site here.
Let’s open Illustrator program. The first thing we do is to create a new document.
You can find it File>New
When we do this a new window opens. See image below.

You can select a prefix size or create a custom size. You can select the size from the “1 area” marked with red border color (see image above).
Another important factor is the document’s metric system named units and it’s marked with blue border color and named (see image above). If your document is for web use it is better to work with “pixels”.
The available options are:
Points, Picas, Inches, Millimeters, Centimeters, Ha and Pixels.
What about the size of the document?
Well if noticed it’s on the right side of the window marked with orange border and named “3”. You should type the dimensions in these fields.
NOTE. If you use a prefixed size do not change the numbers.
To change the document orientation choose from the black border marked area (4) landscape or portrait.
If your document is for web use select from Color mode at the bottom RGB. For print use select CMYK.
We will talk about color formats on another tutorial.
Congratulations you just created a new document.
